City Recorder
Duties of This Office
The duties of this office are set by the City Charter and through City Ordinances.
The City Recorder serves as;
- Clerk for the City Council
- City's Elections Officer
- Records Management
The City Recorder attends all City Council meetings, prepares and retains meeting minutes; manages City elections, administers oaths of office, oversees public records requests, and sets retention policies and procedures.
Public Meeting Law (PML) Grievances
City of Ashland meeting bodies, including City Council, Parks and Recreation Commission, and all boards and committees, are subject to Oregon's Public Meetings Law. Violations of the PLM can be reported through the grievance process outlined by state law and the Oregon Government Ethics Commission (OGEC). Written grievances may be submitted by email to the City Attorney, Johan Pietila, or City Recorder Alissa Kolodzinski, by mail: 20 East Main St, Ashland OR 97520. or in-person at City Hall (20 East Main St), Thursdays 8:30 to 10 a.m., or by appointment. Once received, the City will initiate the process as outlined by the OGEC. Appeals or disagreements with the final decision of the City may be sent to OGEC.

Submit Public Comment
Public comment is welcome on public forum topics and agenda items during Business Meetings, as well as on agenda items during Study Sessions.
- If you would like to speak in person, during a meeting, please complete a Speaker Request Form available at the meeting location.
- To speak electronically during the meeting or to submit written comments in advance, please complete the online Public Comment Form by 10 a.m. the day of the meeting.
- Be sure to indicate whether you are submitting written comments or requesting to speak electronically.
- Written comments submitted by the deadline will be provided to the Mayor and City Council prior to the meeting.
All public testimony will be part of the official record.
