As of March 2025, the City of Ashland's and Jackson County’s alert system, previously known as Citizen Alert, will now be called JACKSON ALERTS. Why the change?
The City partners with Jackson County under a single alert messaging system. Until recently the system also included Josephine County, who will now be separate from Jackson County and the City of Ashland. By separating the accounts, first responders and emergency managers in both counties have better ability to ensure the safety of their residents that adheres to their own jurisdictional alert and warning processes.
What does this mean for you?
If you already have an account, you will continue to receive Emergency Notifications from the City of Ashland and/or Jackson County. However, you will need to log in and verify your account to ensure your phone number, email, and home address are up to date.
Steps to verify your account information:
- You will receive an email at the email address that was used to sign up for Citizen Alert.
- This email will be from “Jackson Alerts,” and it will contain a unique link that will take you to the new Jackson Alerts portal. Be sure to check your spam folder if you don’t see the email in your in-box.
- Set up a new username and password. You will not be able to use your preexisting username associated with Citizen Alert.
- Migrated location address and contact information that were listed in your Citizen Alert account will populate.
- Verify that your information is still up to date.
- NEW! You will have the option to opt into Smart Weather, which is a new feature. By selecting this option, you will be subscribed to receive several National Weather Service Alerts such as Red Flag and Winter Weather Warnings.
If you don’t have an account, you are strongly encouraged to sign up for an account today! Doing so will allow you to sign up for Ashland alerts and Jackson County alerts, and you can prioritize your preferred methods of contact.
For those who signed up to receive TEXT notifications as part of special groups such as the “97520” Ashland group, or the “WATERSHED” Ashland group, you will continue to receive these notifications.
