The Ashland Senior Advisory Committee (ASAC) will have an opening for one new member starting July 1, 2024. The application process is now open and will continue through Thursday, June 15, 2024. Interested applicants may visit the ASAC page for more information and to complete an application. This is a great volunteer opportunity to contribute ideas, to learn and to work towards the betterment of our senior community.
All applications must be received or postmarked by June 15 at 5 p.m.
ASAC advises Ashland Parks and Recreation Commissioners on matters related to the Senior Services Division and advocates for the needs of Ashland seniors. The Senior Services Division offers support services and a variety of free or low-cost social, recreational, and educational opportunities at Ashland Senior Center and other locations; advocates for senior needs; and builds community partnerships to expand opportunities for seniors.
ASAC has up to nine members, seven of which must be program participants or community partners. In addition, there is one Ashland Parks and Recreation Commissioner and one City Council liaison. ASAC member terms are usually three years, ending or renewing June 30, with no member serving more than two consecutive terms. The newly appointed member would start in July 2024 and serve through June 2027, with the option of renewing at that time.
ASAC currently meets the second Monday of every odd numbered month, 3:30 to 5 p.m., alternating between Zoom and in-person meetings at Ashland Senior Center.
