Kick off your Independence Day early with the annual Ashland Parks & Recreation 4th of July Run! This run, steeped in tradition since 1976, entices runners from near and far!
Start your day with the Run!
Choose your race:
- 2-mile Fun Run, great for families and casual runners
- 10K, perfect for competitive runners, with a scenic stretch along the Bear Creek Greenway
New start time: Both races begin at 7:30 a.m.
Start/Finish line: Near the Ashland Library, 410 Siskiyou Blvd (corner of 3rd & Gresham)

After the Run… Celebrate!
Stick around for the Ashland Chamber of Commerce’s Annual 4th of July Parade, which starts early this year at 9:30 a.m. Then enjoy a full day of festivities in Lithia Park. The Ashland City Band will offer a special performance at approximately 11 a.m. at the Butler Memorial Bandshell in the Park. For a complete schedule of events, visit ashlandchamber.com/4thofJuly.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR SPECTATORS
To ensure a safe and smooth experience for everyone attending the event, please take note of the following street closures, traffic changes and parking restrictions:
Street Closures & Traffic Delays
- Expect road closures and traffic delays starting around 6 through 9 a.m. near Oak St and Eagle Mill Rd
- Inbound and outbound traffic from N Laurel St to S Mountain Ave will be rerouted onto Lithia Way, which will temporarily operate as a two-way street from approximately 6 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Winburn Way through Lithia Park will be closed from approximately 5:30 a.m. until late afternoon.
Parking Restrictions (No Parking After 3 a.m.)
For the safety of participants and spectators, no parked vehicles will be allowed along the parade route. Signs will be posted in advance indicating these restrictions. All vehicles must be moved by 3 a.m. on July 4 or they will be towed.
No Parking Zones (3 a.m. until after roads reopen):
- North Main St (from Granite to the Downtown Plaza)
- East Main St (from the Plaza to Siskiyou Blvd)
- Siskiyou Blvd (from East Main St to Beach St)
- Beach St (from Siskiyou Blvd to Henry St)
- Henry St (from Beach St to S Mountain Ave)
- Water St (from North Main St to Hersey St)
Plan ahead, arrive early and follow all posted signage and instructions from event staff.
Parade spot reminders:
- No chairs, blankets or tape on public property before 6 a.m. on July 3
- Public property includes sidewalks, medians, park rows, the Plaza and other public spaces
- Only blue painter’s tape is permitted on sidewalks (other types leave residue)
- Plastic tarps may not be placed on grass
- Be respectful of private property; space directly in front of homes is the responsibility of the resident
Items that block walkways or pose safety risks may be removed. After the parade, please clean up all personal items.
Fireworks: Know the Law
Retail fireworks may be legal in other parts of Oregon, but they are not allowed within Ashland city limits. The only legal fireworks in Ashland are:
- Smoke bombs
- Snakes
- Party poppers
No spark-producing devices of any kind. Violations can result in fines up to $500.
