On Thursday August 14, 2025, from 5 to 6 p.m., you are invited to an Open House regarding East Main Park. The open house will be held at the Ashland Senior Center located at 1699 Homes Avenue.
At the open house, Ashland Parks and Recreation (APR) staff will present information and hear feedback regarding the budget and current constraints of the East Main Street Park project.
The presentation and discussion will include:
- Update on the project (project overview & cost estimate; phasing of project, grant funding, etc.).
- Cost estimate increased to $3 million for Phase I construction. (Budget is $2.5 million.)
- Gather input on the project deliverables to keep within APR capital budget while completing the requirements of the grant. This includes ideas such as:
- Movement of park access to Abbott Avenue to reduce street improvements costs.
- Elimination of parking lot in Phase I.
- Elimination of restroom in Phase I, install port-a-potties in the interim.
- Cancellation of other capital projects and/or utilization of other capital funds.
The goal is to gather input from the community to inform City Council and the Parks Commission on potential future decisions on this project. Learn more.
Your feedback is important and if you cannot attend the meeting to give feedback you can send it via email up until August 21, 2025. We are Better Together!
