[ARCHIVED] Pilot Home Energy Score Program Set to Launch in January

Model of a home

Sign Up Now to Receive a Free Score and Find Out How to Save Money on Your Energy Bills Next Year!

This January, the City of Ashland is launching a pilot Home Energy Score program to help residents find and prioritize opportunities to save money on their energy bills. From January through May 2026, Ashland Electric customers will be eligible to receive a free Home Energy Score for their homes. If you are concerned about rising energy costs, fixing your home’s energy features or otherwise affording your energy bills this year, sign up now.

Why the Program was Developed

Home Energy Score was developed by the US Department of Energy to provide homeowners, renters and buyers with information about how their home uses energy, and recommend ways to reduce energy use, lower utility bills and improve comfort. The program provides a numeric rating of how well a home uses energy, similar to a miles per gallon rating for cars. This information makes it easier to make smart decisions about improvements or upgrades that can save energy in your home.

How it Works

A certified assessor will come to your home to evaluate its systems and structure and provide you with your score. You will also receive a list of recommendations for improvements you can make to increase your score in the future, which will help you save money on your utility bills while improving the comfort of your home. You may also be eligible for incentives to cover the cost of improvements or upgrades recommended on your Home Energy Score report.

Eligibility

Home Energy Score assessments received through this pilot program are free for any Ashland Electric utility customer. All single-family homes, including side-by-side townhomes, are eligible to receive a Home Energy Score. Stacked duplexes, triplexes, and smaller multi-unit homes are eligible if the property owner and residents grant permission for the entire structure to be scored. Alternative assessment methods are available for multifamily buildings. Please contact us with any questions about program eligibility.

Sign up now to indicate your interest. When the program opens, the City will send you a list of qualified assessors you can contact to make an appointment. We are Better Together!
