The Ashland City Council is seeking qualified candidates to fill the Municipal Court Judge position after Judge Pamela Turner resigned, effective Friday, August 30, 2024. According to the Ashland City Charter, the City Council must appoint a new judge within 60 days of the resignation because the Municipal Judge is currently an elected role.
However, this may change soon. In the November 2024 election, voters will decide whether to amend the City Charter. If approved, this amendment would transition the Municipal Judge position from an elected role to one appointed by the Mayor and City Council.
