[ARCHIVED] Join the Trails Advisory Committee and help shape the future of local trails

Trails in Ashland

Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission seeks applicants to serve on the Trails Advisory Committee.

Are you a regular user of the trails in Ashland? Do you want to give input and make recommendations on trail use and the future of trails in Ashland? The Ashland Parks and Recreation Commission (APRC) is seeking applications for the Trails Advisory Committee (TAC). Applications can be found on the City of Ashland website. All applications must be received by December 15, 2024.

To ensure we have a TAC that is inclusive of all trail users, we are prioritizing representation as follows:

  • Cycling user group representative
  • Hiking user group representative
  • Accessibility (ADA) representative
  • (2) At-Large members

Our trail system has a wide range of trail types. Trail users have diverse recreational and mobility needs. The accessibility (ADA) representative should have a working knowledge of accessibility needs and/or ADA requirements. The At-Large representatives can be from any of the identified representative groups or other trail users such as dog walkers, alternative transportation trail users, runners, and so on.

The purpose of the TAC is to make recommendations to the Parks Superintendent and Parks Department Director on matters related to trails and to recommend policies pertaining to trails to the Parks Commission.

The APRC currently manages 53 miles of trails. If selected, the commitment of the term is four (4) years. Meetings will be held quarterly.

For more information about the TAC or the application process, please contact the Ashland Parks and Recreation Director, Rocky Houston via email or at 541.488.5340.

The APRC has three advisory committees that make recommendations to the elected Parks Commission, the Ashland Senior Advisory Committee (ASAC), Recreation Division Advisory Committee (RDAC) and the Trails Advisory Committee (TAC).
