Volunteer Opportunities
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Volunteer in Parks (VIP) with APRC. We have varied and exciting volunteer opportunities to choose from, including working in parks and trails, the North Mountain Park Nature Center, the Senior Center, special events, seasonal options, and student projects. There is a volunteer opportunity for everyone!
Volunteer Application

Volunteer Waiver
A volunteer waiver is required to volunteer, please complete the Adult Waiver form.
For volunteers under 18 years old, the parent/guardian must complete a Youth Waiver form.

Parks
- Ashland Japanese Garden - Come volunteer at the beautiful Japanese Garden. Lend a hand by helping with maintenance and beautification, or learn about the history and significance of the garden and become a docent. If you love the Japanese Garden and want to volunteer, let us know!
- Nature Center Gardens - Help care for the stunning gardens at North Mountain Park. Join a social group of gardeners who work every Wednesday morning. Adopt a small garden space or just drop in and help out.
- Park Work Parties - Join the fun of taking care of your Ashland parks! Sign up for our volunteer email list by reaching out to Sulaiman Shelton to hear about events happening at your neighborhood park!
Programs
- Bike Program Volunteers - Come volunteer to fix up bikes at the Grove, 1195 E Main St, every Tuesday evening 5:30pm to 8:00pm and Thursday morning, 9:30am-noon. All experience levels welcome, and some training provided. Bikes are being distributed to local aid organizations, and low-income residents of the area, as well as being sold at the Bike Swap to help raise funds for bike education in the Rogue Valley.
- David's Chair Host - David's Chair is a 501 C(3) non-profit based in White City with a mission to provide people with mobility challenges the free use of electric all-terrain track chairs offering freedom and independence to get outdoors and experience terrain and conditions that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Lithia Park is now home to a track chair, and we are looking for volunteers to support this important program. Time commitment and scheduling are flexible, and training is provided!
- Lithia Park Guided Walk Volunteers - If you love Lithia Park and are interested in sharing this love with others, consider becoming a Lithia Park Walk Guide. Guided walks have been taking place in Lithia for over 30 years and we are looking for new volunteers to join this program. Time commitment of an hour or two a month, and training is provided!
- Nature Center Volunteer – Front Desk & Visitor Support- Help create a warm and welcoming environment at the Nature Center by volunteering on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.! This role includes greeting visitors, answering the phone, monitoring indoor play areas, and directing questions to the appropriate staff. Light office tasks and optional projects are also available. It’s a great way to support your community, gain experience, and enjoy time in a beautiful, nature-filled setting.
