Online Permits

The City of Ashland is pleased to announce our new customer service portal, Citizen Self Service, which streamlines permitting and plan review procedures; brings increased transparency to each step of the process; and provides the community quick, intuitive self-service access for achieving their construction and permitting needs.

Apply online with Citizen Self Service

Utilizing the customer portal, most Building, Planning, and Public Works permits can be applied for and processed online, including:

  • Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing and Structural Permits
  • Renewable Energy Systems
  • Residential Remodels, Additions, and Decks
  • New Residential Units & ADUs
  • Grading and Excavation Permits
  • Commercial Tenant Improvements
  • Fire Alarm, Fire Sprinkler, and Fire Suppression Systems
  • Signs, Fences, New Address, Zoning Permits, Pre-Application Conferences, Tree Removals, and Type I Land Use Actions
  • Misc. Concrete, Right-of-Way, and Street/Alley Excavation Permits
  • Carbon Pollution Impact Application (Required for NEW residential units)

In addition to applying for permits and scheduling inspections, users can also conduct research and obtain permitting information on all applications processed by the City of Ashland from 2018-Present.

Standard Permit/Plan Submittals

Building Permit application packages for NEW multi-family construction and NEW commercial buildings are submitted by email to the Building Division for processing. Email complete application package along with the construction plans and supporting documents to the Building Division for review.
